Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA)

The 2018 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) will have reading as the major domain, and mathematics and science as the minor domains. Financial literacy is an additional domain that will also be assessed in some countries/economies and in some Canadian provinces. Approximately 80 countries/economies will be participating in PISA 2018, including all 10 Canadian provinces.

In preparation for the main study, which will take place in spring 2018, a field test will be conducted between April 24 and May 31, 2017, in selected schools across Canada. Approximately 4,600 students from 60 schools across the country will be participating in the field test.

The assessment will be entirely computer-based. It will consist of a two-hour test and a 35-to-45-minute student questionnaire. A contextual questionnaire will be administered to school principals and in some provinces, students will also be asked to complete a 10-minute financial literacy questionnaire.

The results of PISA 2015 were published on December 6, 2016.
