Bringing Education in Canada to the World, Bringing the World to Canada: An International Education Marketing Action Plan for Provinces and Territories Publication Date: 2011-08-05

At the meeting of the Council of the Federation in July, 2011, provincial and territorial Premiers endorsed an International Education Marketing Action Plan. The Action Plan identifies opportunities for federal-provincial-territorial collaboration on marketing aiming. In 2008, international students spent $6.5 billion in Canada and created over 83,000 jobs. By 2025, the global demand for international education is predicted to quadruple from 1.8 million to 7.2 million students.

Challenges and Opportunities in Canadian Degree Quality Assurance: A Report from the CMEC Quality Assurance Subcommittee Publication Date: 2009-03-06

This symposium was held at the Château Laurier Québec from May 27 to May 28, 2008. It was an invitation-only event. It attracted almost 100 representatives from various government bodies and stakeholder groups from across the country and provided an excellent forum to explore the challenges and opportunities facing quality assurance standards and procedures, both nationally and in a global context.

Informal Meeting of OECD Education Ministers on Evaluating the Outcomes of Higher Education, January 11-12, 2008 Publication Date: 2008-01-12

The main objective of the meeting was to facilitate an exchange of ideas around the question of evaluating higher-education systems and the feasibility of creating instruments suitable for evaluating higher education across OECD member countries. This report outlines the key points of the discussions around societal expectations, national experiences with evaluating the quality of higher education, and the possibility of measuring learning outcomes in higher education. The document also presents the Canadian contributions and response to the idea of developing an assessment tool for higher education across OECD countries.

The Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC), established a subcommittee on quality assurance in 2004. Part of the mandate of this subcommittee is to report on provincial and territorial activities related to quality assurance. This is their first public report.
