Ministers of Education to Celebrate 50 Years of Pan-Canadian Leadership in Education at their 106th Meeting in Charlottetown

TORONTO, July 13, 2017 — Provincial and territorial ministers of education will be in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, on July 19–20, 2017, for the 106th meeting of the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC).

CMEC 106 will give ministers the opportunity to review progress on CMEC initiatives and activities and discuss a wide variety of current issues in education, including global competencies, Indigenous education, and technology and innovation.

The meeting will also be an opportunity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of CMEC, which serves as the collective voice of Canada's ministers of education at home and on the world stage.

A communiqué will be released on Thursday afternoon, July 20. The Chair of CMEC, the Honourable Doug Currie, Minister of Education, Early Learning and Culture for Prince Edward Island, will be available for interviews. Other provincial and territorial education ministers may also be available.
