Ministers of Education to Meet in Iqaluit July 4–5, 2013

TORONTO, June 27, 2013 — Provincial and territorial ministers of education will be in Iqaluit, Nunavut, July 4–5, 2013, for the 101st meeting of the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC). CMEC 101 will take place at the Frobisher Inn.

 

Led by Nova Scotia, the current Chair of CMEC, the meeting will focus on measures to improve education outcomes across the four pillars of lifelong learning: early childhood learning and development, elementary and secondary education, postsecondary education, and adult learning and skills development.

 

CMEC 101 marks the first time that provincial and territorial ministers of education have met collectively in Nunavut, Canada's newest territory.

 

There will be interview opportunities with ministers and with the Director General of CMEC on Friday afternoon, after the conclusion of the meeting.
